Charity
This year's charity will be for the initiative "AKAMAOSA - the good friends"
Akamaosa is located in Madagascar and created 5 centres around Antananarivo. They are composed of 17 villages where are present 926 families (15 560 people with 60% of children under 15 years).
Since 1989 Padre Pedro Pablo Opeka, a priest from Argentina, has been committing himself to help the poorest people in Madagascar. Thanks to his continuous work "Akamasoa" was born, a community just outside Antananarivo, where families reduced from poverty to live in slums and collect garbage to survive can find a real hospital, a school for their children, a brick house, a job to earn their living, overall, a dignified life.
Today, thousands of families live from their work thanks to Akamasoa and many people from the villages near the capital have benefited from the sanitary facilities of the association. Those who want to go back to their village of origin receive help to find economic independence: the association provides them tools and pays for transport fees. It is estimated that at least 1,350 families have been able to go back to their home town.
